Liz

With the name Liz Watkins I am clearly not Dutch though I have never lived anywhere else so long as in Delft. I am completely at home here and with family and friends just a bike ride away I definitely have no plans to leave!

I was born in the United States and grew up in England.  English is therefore my mother tongue and I translate Dutch and French into English, working freelance since 2008.

In 2008 I moved to Jakarta for a couple of years with my husband and youngest child.  Looking for more than a superficial experience, I joined a group of people who worked in the local community and sponsored children to go to primary school. I also taught English to children aged 4 to 12 in a local school.  It was an unforgettable year and has left me with fond memories.

I met Adrie last year during cardio rehabilitation.  He spoke about Help Laos and particularly because of my experience in Indonesia I wanted to know more.  I was very impressed by the work done by the Foundation and wanted to make a contribution by translating articles on the website into English.  So that is now my link with Help Laos!
