Running race to collect money

On Monday the 4th of March Adrie de Koning, president of our foundation, showed the children of the Dutch school “Widar” what it’s like for a kid to live and go to school in Laos.

On World Water Day (22nd of March) the kids did a running race to collect money for two water pumps: one pump for the Dutch school Widar, the other one for a school in Laos.

The kids now understand that a water pump is crucial for a healthy daily life, and they realize that some people cannot afford one. That’s why they have been doing their best to get as much support as possible for their little project. And they did a great job!

The kids were incredibly enthusiastic. They danced, sang and ran to collect money. We are very proud to see how motivated the kids were to collect money in order to reach the set goals. Outside it was very cold, but everyone’s enthousiasm totally warmed us up.

All participants did an excellent job, and especially the 6th grade. They were the ones handing over the cheque to Adrie on the 13th of May. He was very surprised: the total amount of 1500 eur

is enough to install a water pump and buy a bunch of school books as well! Adrie was very touched by the enthousiasm and results.

The kids will have a look at our website for kids. It has a lot of information, but it’s not very “cool” yet. They will give us some advice on how we can make it better. Adrie asked them to make some fun videos, in order to inspire other kids. Who knows, other kids who read this will get inspired and want to make videos or give some advice as well.

We can’t wait to see the reactions!
